SSC CHSL

Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts Combined Higher Secondary Level Exam (CHSL) every year to recruit eligible candidates for various departments in Central government.

A candidate can go in various Government Ministries like Finance Ministry, Education Ministry, Ministry of External Affairs, etc. They can also opt for various Department and offices like Income Tax department, Excise Department, Import Export, etc. for various post like

  1. Postal Assistant/Sorting Assistant (PA/SA)
  2. Data Entry Operator (DEO)
  3. Lower Divisional Clerk (LDC) / Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA)
  4. Court Clerk

SSC CHSL Vacancy

 

SSC CHSL Vacancy is generally released in the month of November / December  tentatively, 1000’s of vacancies are released for the candidates to apply in 2017 there were 5,874 vacancies 2018 there were 5,649  vacancies , in 2019 there were 4,893 vacancies , in 2020 there were a total of 4,726 vacancies and in in 2021 there were a total of 5,429 vacancies.

SSC CHSL Exam

SSC CHSL generally conducts exam after 2 to 3 months of notification date in 3 stages (Tiers), the first exam is conducted on Online mode and latter two are on offline mode.

SSC CHSL Salary Structure

The initial salary package of SSC CHSL is about Rs. 22,392/- to 31,045 per month  depending on post, pay scale and city of posting that includes the Dearness Allowance and other benefits.

SSC CHSL Eligibility Criteria

  1. Citizen of India
  2. Subject of Nepal or Bhutan
  3. Tibetan refugees who came to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanent settlement.
  4. Person of Indian Origin (PIO) who has migrated from Burma, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Vietnam or East African countries of Zaire, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Ethiopia, Malawi, with the intention of permanent settlement in India Candidates belonging to the category 2, 3, 4 must have a certificate of eligibility issued by the Govt. of India in their favor.

Education qualification varies from post to post for SSC CHSL, below you can find the desirable qualification for each posts

For LDC/JSA, PA/SA, DEO (except DEO in C&AG): 12th Passed or Equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University.

For Data Entry Operator (DEO) in the office of Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CA&G): 12th Passed in Science stream with Mathematics as a subject from a recognized Board or University.

SSC CHSL Age Limit

Candidates applying for the SSC CHSL exam should not be below 18 years and not above 27 years.

SSC CHSL Exam Pattern

The Exam pattern of SSC CHSL is in 3 Stages

The Composite time for Prelims exam is of 60 minutes for 200 Marks and consists 100 questions. SSC CHSL Tier 1 exams rewards 2 mark for every correct answer and deduct 0.5 marks for every incorrect answer

Tier 3 of SSC CHSL includes couple of skill tests required for the central government posts.

This includes typing test where a candidate should have 30wpm (Hindi) and 35wpm (English) speed, duration of test is 15 minutes. For visually handicapped candidates (40% and above) 30 minutes will be allotted.

SSC CHSL Tier 2 is a descriptive based paper conducted offline which includes :

Tier 2 is of 100 marks for 60 minutes. For visually challenged candidates and candidates suffering from cerebral palsy the time is extended upto 80 minutes. Tier 2 exam focuses on the writing capability of the candidate, the candidate can attempt the paper in English/Hindi. Minimum 33% of marks is required to qualify SSC CHSL Tier 2 paper.
